Len Chimiel

OK, this is really a fun project! I just got an email from one of the artists I featured yesterday and he gave me a list of names of artists he likes. Len Chimiel's work stood out to me. I really like the sense of movement and texture in his landscapes, and those colors are just yummy!

Len, if you see this, I usually try to write for permission to host images, but I couldn't get your email, I'm happy to remove this if needed...

Scott Lloyd Anderson

Scott Lloyd Anderson's
work has inspired me to look at my environment for unusual compositions, for movement, and for balance.

Robert Lemler

I came across Robert Lemler's work as I was surfing the web for landscape painters. Something I noticed about his work is that he has an interesting sense of design. I really find the still life on the top to be exciting. I like the idea of composing a still life off of a notion of limited color palette. I also like the view point from above, which makes for composition that can float a bit more.

Jim McVicker

I've been out painting the landscape a lot lately. Here on the Northern Coast of California, I am very fortunate to paint in an area with many talented artists who have looked out over this same scenery and shared their interpretations!

The one that I think about the most is Jim McVicker. He has a great way of depicting atmosphere and light. Here is a great website for getting a closer look at his work. Don't miss the link for the documentary film!

Brett Bigbee

When I lived in Maine, I used to visit two paintings by Brett Bigbee often. One was at the Portland Museum of Art and the other was at the Farnsworth.

The paintings were so lovely and serene, the color in them glows from deep within. Bigbee works very slowly, making about two paintings a year, so the presence that one of his images creates is quite magical. It's as if he stops time.

Find hid work at the Alexandre Gallery in New York.

Anna Pugh

At one point I was contacted by someone through email. She recommended that I look at Anna Pugh's paintings because she thought they might be similar to my artwork.

I enjoy her work because it feels like she makes her own rules as she goes. I also enjoy the anecdotes that she tells in her work. The imagery warms me heart is does!

Leslie Kenneth Price

When I saw the paintings of Leslie Kenneth Price it inspired me to change my school plans and study with him at Humboldt State University in Northern California. Sorry Folks, he is now retiring.

His paintings have light trapped inside the layers so they glow from within!

Pierre Bonnard

Creating a blog about images that inspire me, would always have to start with the artist Pierre Bonnard. His colors and his brush stroke are so tender.

Here is a link to "Olga's Gallery" where you can find many paintings by him as well as tons of other historical artists.
